Base makeup consumes more cosmetic powder than any other category. Foundation, cushion, pressed powder and loose powder all balance the same four variables: press strength, spreading feel, oil absorption and soft-focus coverage. KingPowder manufactures boron nitride, spherical porous silica, calcined kaolin, wet-ground mica, titanium dioxide and oil-based slurries in-house, and can dose them separately for dry and liquid systems.
Insufficient green strength makes cakes chip and dust in transit. Plate-like powders and mica interlocking are the main levers.
Agglomerated powder or incompatibility with the thickener system produces rolls and flakes during application.
More coverage pigment means more occlusion. Particle size and refractive index are how you balance coverage against translucency.
Once sebum breaks the matte structure the shade turns grey. Oil absorption capacity and speed set the wear curve.

Base makeup is the application segment with the largest consumption of cosmetic powders, covering mainstream products such as foundation, cushion BB, pressed powder, and loose setting powder. Liankai’s functional powder portfolio includes boron nitride, spherical silica, kaolin, titanium dioxide and other series, providing comprehensive solutions for both dry powder and liquid base makeup formulations.
In pressed powder and loose powder formulations, powders directly affect the pressing performance. They can improve the strength of the pressed cake, reduce breakage and powder fallout, while providing a smooth and silky spreading feel on the skin. In liquid base makeup such as foundation and cushion products, powders act as skin-feel modifiers and soft-focus concealing ingredients, helping to blur pores and create a more even and refined complexion.
Boron nitride, with its unique plate-like structure, creates an elegant satin finish and soft radiance without producing an inexpensive, overly glittery effect. Spherical silica provides controllable oil absorption, helping to absorb excess sebum on the skin, extend makeup wear, and reduce makeup breakdown caused by excess oil.
Our powders effectively address common challenges in the industry, including loose and fragile pressed powders, pilling and clumping in liquid base makeup, heavy and mask-like makeup, as well as darkening caused by excess oil. They provide stable, high-performance raw material solutions for base makeup products.
Start by raising the share of plate-like powders and mica to improve interlocking and adhesion; boron nitride adds both green strength and slip. If the cake is still brittle, review the surface-treatment grade and compression pressure. Ratios must be confirmed by pilot trials on your own formula.
Usually it comes from agglomerated powder or incompatibility with the thickener and film-former system. Better-dispersing surface-treated grades, a revised addition order and controlled shear time normally help; replacing dry pigment with an oil-based slurry also removes agglomeration sites.
Spherical porous silica soft-focuses through diffuse reflection — finer particles blur more but raise white-cast risk. Boron nitride delivers satin lustre rather than matte blur, so combining the two balances both.
